Sarah Experiments

Aug 21

My daughter is a genius!

Without telling anyone, and while we were convinced she was shut away in her room doing her homework. she was busy developing a vaccine for Swine Flu!

Unfortunately, as indeed she hadn’t been informed, when Mum discovered the cultures, carefully camouflaged in a McDonalds give-away Coke glass under the budding scientist’s bed, her reaction was only normal: eyebrows were raised, expletives were uttered and, the carefully-engineered microorganisms were flushed down the toilet.

A sad day for bioscience!

Vic is an Ecological Terrorist

Aug 20

So Vic encountered her first taste of the Law today..

After having had lunch in the park she simply and conveniently discarded her empty plastic salad bowl behind a wall (“[..] where a mountain of other garbage had accumulated anyway [..]“).

And was subsequently pounced upon by an (undercover) member of the local police. Who proceeded to admonish her in a patronizing and totally non-educational way before handing her a fine for CHF 50.00.

I believe she’s learned a lesson: she declared that she would NEVER EVER chuck ANYTHING on the floor again and would ALWAYS look for a bin, even if it meant she had to walk a mile.

….then she asked if we would pay her fine….

Long Time, No See!

Aug 19

Cr@p: I can’t believe it has been over 4 months since I graced this place with my delicate prose..

Especially considering that I had pledged (to myself) that I would post something mind-bogglingly interesting at least every other day on a regular basis.

Procrastination Can Be Fun!

Two holidays and a mass of ideas later, I am left with my procrastination and faded memories; not that I didn’t have any stories to tell or general ramblings to share, mind you: I simply did not want to post anything new before I had compiled and published our adventures in Florida. And then came the kid’s exams. And then Sarah went ahead and managed to pass them and qualify for the “Kanti“. And Vic had to spend a couple of days in hospital. And go through a myriad tests. And then we spent the weekend in Rome. And then it was time to take our summer vacation in Javea…where the car’s air-conditioning broke down the day before we were due to drive home…and were introduced to the intricacies of the word “mañana” (the German’s fault, NOT the Spaniard’s I must add).

And then…here we are, four months later. Better forget about the past and look ahead, I say.

Right?

Right!
