Could It Be?

Sep 23

Ever since I saw Eric Pryde’s version of Steve Winwood‘s “Come On Me”, I swore that , someday, I would purchase a membership to a fitness club, which I would visit on a regular basis and develop my very own “butts of steel” (yes, DBW: AND “gutt of steel” as well!! ;-))

Trouble is: up until now I never actually managed to find ANY place remotely ressembling the one in that clip (ok: for those of you with Alzheimers, here it is, once again:)

Until yesterday, that is!

When ever we nip over the border to go shopping, we inevitably return to find some flyer or another stuck under the windscreen wipers. Some flyer or another which I invariably flatly ignore and deposit in the nearest bin.

Yet this Saturday, something caught my eye:

Could it be? Could it really be possible that the place of my dreams has just opened within minutes from my abode?

Too good to be true, probably. But I might just pop in to find out what THIS is all about:

So I was Sick, Ok?!?

Sep 21

Doesn’t explain why I haven’t posted anything meaningful since 9/11, but I really WAS as sick as a dog the last couple of days.

And I mean the evil kind of illness: the one which creeps up on you while you are sitting there with your loved ones and grabs you..

Oh: I don’t think I feel to well.

C’mon, had a bad day or what?

No, seriously: I feel really weird..

And then, after having gone to bed at least 30 minutes before you usually do, “they” start getting worried:

You’re not getting sick, are you?

Bah..

You know we’ll leave you at home if you get sick before our hols..

RIGHT!! Now that  it’s MY turn, I get associated to some unbeloved mutt which one can simply tie to a tree, forget and zoom off into the distance..

But cr*p, my throat DID ache, and I did believe I was coming down with bronchitis. So I *shudder* stayed home for three whole days!

Spent most of them popping out of bed, visiting the bathroom, feeling “rather better” while sitting there, before collapsing back under the duvets just a couple of seconds later.

But I DID manage to deliver those “bloody cost estimates” on time by Friday even though I was thouroughly “Panadolized”!

Just checked the numbers, mind you: seems like I just made someone a pretty good deal including a camel and vestal virgin.  Hope I didn’t forget to add the installation fees..

The Dark Side of the..Matterhorn

Sep 09

As Pina went to bed earlier tonight (these weekends are getting EXHAUSTING for the old bird.. ;-)) I decided to take out the flight simulator which is built into the latest version of Google Earth for a spin (didn’t know? Press <ctrl>-<alt>-a and you’ll see what I mean.)

Spent a great time crashing into our house as well as various hills in the neighbourhood before dislocating to a more interesting place, namely Zermatt.

I took off from Sion and flew up the Vispertal, then the Mattertal and, after a couple of minutes, there she was in all her glory: the Matterhorn!

Matterhorn

As I didn’t have to be back until the next morning, I decided to fly on and take a look from the other side (it’s not everyday that you get that opportunity) expecting the mountain to look pretty much the same.

Surprise! I wonder how many Swiss would recognise the south side of their favorite alp:
