Female Chauvinists

May 24

  • 3 family members.
  • 1 wants to watch the episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” she missed while snoozing on the sofa yesterday evening.
  • 2 TVs….

Oh well: at least there’s a radio in the kitchen! ;-)

Great Freeware Disk Cleanup Utility

May 23

Found a pretty good Disk Cleanup tool (actually t’was suggest by Joe..).

You’d be amazed at the amount of clutter littering your hard disk: stuff left over from setups, cookies generated while surfing, temporary files, etc..

I ran it last night and, although I rebuilt my machine just three months ago, it managed to free up 2.6 Gb!

And, best of all: it’s FREE!

This One’s For You, Girlies

May 18

Where we oldies use to depend on pheromene, muscle and recess breaks to “display our goods”, today’s youth cannot be without an online profile whether it is Xobox, MySpace or.. you name it.

Personally, I tend to assimilate the whole affair with a gigantic meat market, but, hey: I didn’t have a cellular phone either when I was 16. ;-)

The thing is, competition gets fiercer everyday and you need to make an early impression with a sexy interesting pic or two: and as not every teenager possesses Adobe Photoshop CS (hmmm: well, let’s say, not every teenager has heard about EMule..), here’s where Dad dons his pink cape and rushes to the rescue.

cameroid.jpg

Check out Cameroid: it is an interesting online service that lets you capture photographs online using any webcam and your web browser – no software to download or install.

Just plug-in your webcam to the computer and open www.cameroid.com in your web browser. Allow the Flash player to access the webcam and you are ready to take pictures.

The most interesting feature of Cameroid are the hilarios webcam effects – you can see yourself live in funny situations that range from morphing your face with a Mona Lisa painting to applying numerous picture effects as shown in the screen capture above.

Great eh? :-)

Did I really say “pink” cape?

Lonelyness of a Long-Distance Blogger

May 16

If you aren’t the happy owner of a blog or “homepage” then skip this article: you won’t understand! Really!

Obviously you are, since you’re still reading; or you’re one of those people who has already suffered the embarrassement of trying to burn something on a blank 16X DVD disk using a 8X DVD write while wondering why you couldn’t burn faster than 8X. I know: pathetic.. :-(

So I came home yesterday evening, delighted about the shortness of this week (Ascension and everything) and looking forward to four days of doing absolutely NOTHING! (Just kidding, darling..).

I sneaked a quick glance at this place (as a proud dad gazes at his newborn) and, OMG, noticed that the pic was missing from this post. As I had spent a few minutes updating the sidebar (<<<== that pink column on the left) during my lunch break, I suspected a stress-driven mistake.

A normal person would think “WTF, who cares..” and I still remember those days when I was happy to be part of that community.

A blogger’s brain immediately switches to “debug” mode.

At this moment in time, I prefer NOT to go into details; technicalities would certainly bore the 100+ visitors who honour this place ever day: however, as at least “two of you” run a similar joint, beware of naming conventions..

Following is a pic called ad.jpg:

And now, for something completely different, is a pic called… owl.jpg:

If you cannot see the former, may I suggest that you review your Firefox Ad-Block settings? ;-)
